Coronavarius: Easing off The Restrictions

From 01 June 2020, the government has authorised a phased reopening of the retail industry and primary schools in England, as well as professional sport behind closed doors.

As from 15 June 2020, all non-essential retailers will be able to reopen in England. However, the move is “contingent on progress in the fight against coronavirus”, and retailers will have to adhere to new guidelines to protect shoppers and workers. Workplaces should be made safe for staff and customers, with more cleaning, staggered working shifts and, for office workers, no hot-desking.

People who can work from home in England should continue to do so “for the foreseeable future”. Those who can’t, should travel to their workplace safely i.e. walk, cycle or drive if at all possible, to prevent overcrowding on public transport.

Those who do use buses or trains are being told to expect social-distance queuing and to wear face coverings.
