After last year’s sponsorship of the Isle of Man’s Local Heroes – with St John’s Ambulance beating champions of workplace diversity and Search for Rescue Dogs to the prize – we were delighted, this year, to be backing the award category for Sustainable Business of the Year.

Over the years, the event has become something of an institution on the island – with members from across its community coming together to celebrate the success of companies, charities and individuals in the public sector, as well as enjoying a glass of wine and three-course dinner! This year was no different – a celebration of community on the island and, as always, a great night out!

Unsurprisingly, the 2021 event focused heavily on those that had emerged as ‘beacons of light’ through the pandemic.  With COP27 round the corner, though, it feels fitting now to be celebrating the genuine innovation in corporate sustainability that has taken place across the island.

Open to private, public and third sector organizations, the Wilton award sought best practice business sustainability initiatives and companies on the road to Net Zero. With many taking the climate crisis to the very heart of their business, the award was hotly contested, with Capital International claiming the prize for both their environmental impact and their responsible investment policies.
